A little Escape

On our first excursion out of the hospital we went for a walk around the area where the hospital was.

It is right in the centre of Naples which is completely different to Monte Di Procida.

It is a lot more rough. Even though I thought it was cute and buzzy when I was just walking passed it, it's not the greatest place to live, or to walk through either for that matter, but I like it.

Finally

Let me now tell you about our "lovely" trip to Italy.

When we first arrived we went home and had some lovely lunch that the Italian's mum had made us, and then we jumped on the scooter (no it's not just a myth - everybody in Italy drives a scooter...) and went down to the sea. 

Isn't it gorgeous, if we were in a film you would hear an Italian opera in the background - can you hear it..?

This is what happens when you eat Italian Mama's lovely food, you get strong arms but a pot belly;)

And then we went around on the scooter for a bit and everything is really just so beautiful there, this is what most of the shopping streets look like.

In the evening we went out for a bit with the Italian's best friend P and his girlfriend M, we didn't stay out long because we had to be up early the next day.

But then..... something changed, the next day we had to be up early because the Italian had to go to the hospital for a quick check up so they could make sure that he was ok before doing his surgery the Wednesday after (which was the reason we went to Italy in the first place).

Only they decided that he was supposed to check into hospital that day instead of on the Monday like we had first thought....

Yep that's right, did you hear it too, the opera stopped with a loud sound of the record being scratched as it did so...

Good bye Capri... good bye spending some well needed time together.... good bye well needed holiday for the Italian....

This is where it was spent instead... (obviously I made him make room for me on the bed and I slept for the first two days I think. It's unbelievable how tired you get when you do NOTHING:)

And instead of beautiful sea and sun this was our view for the next six days (eight for the Italian)

Fun right...?!?

We did however sneak him out occasionally and more about that later now I need to go to Sainsbury's so I can get back before Ugly Betty starts at nine.

I have tried about a million times. This one is the only one that will let itself upload and I don't know why.

I was very excited to have a whole week together with the Italian:)

Sometimes I love my job - part II

Two bags like this with Krispy Kreme doughnuts arrived yesterday. They both had two boxes in them each.

One with a selection of twelve (!!) different flavours, and then underneath was another box with twelve plain ones with icing on top, so altogether 48 of them....

I was trying to be good all night and I didn't have any. And then just before I left I thought I'd try half of one that looked extra nice. After that I saw another one that looked nice, so I tried half of that as well. And then I realised that what I thought was true - they were amazing, so I ate the other two halves as well.... Two doughnuts later and I felt quite full (read ill).

But after a cycle ride home I felt a bit better. I have never really liked doughnuts but these Krispy Kreme ones are something else. Delicious!

Let's try again

While I sort the flat out, unpacking and washing etc I'll give you the video I was talking about earlier.

Ok so now it only seems to show half the video. Ah well at least you get a bit of a feel of the town. I can't be bother to upload it again....
I am now trying to upload the photos but it keeps rejecting them so I can't guarantee that I'll have time to do it before I have to go to work....

Good Morning

I finally went to bed just after 1am and then my neighbours decided to have a massive fight and slam their front door about a million times and then they made up and thought they should celebrate this by inviting some friends over. So they were on the phone to their friends trying to explain where our house is, and they thought a great place to have this conversation was right outside my front door...

I have never really heard my neighbours before so I was surprised how well I could hear them last night.

Anyway I finally went to sleep about 2-2.30 and then I woke up at 9am this morning when the Italian called me to say good morning. Just hearing his voice made me miss him so much so I couldn't go back to sleep again.

I stayed in bed for a bit and read some blogs on my mobile, but now I've decided to go for a run and then I'm going to look through the photos from Italy and show some of them to you as well.

I was going to give you a video of Monte Di Procida which is a cute little town where his parents live.

The whole town is surrounded by water and it is gorgeous, but it took forever to upload the video so I give up.

I'll try again later, now I really need to go for a run.

Eminem - Love The Way You Lie ft. Rihanna

I can't be bothered to write about Italy tonight, I will post some pictures tomorrow instead. The Italian is still there for another week and I am finding it hard to go to sleep. I keep thinking that he will walk through the door any minute now and that it is just a normal night at home and he is at work.
It is 2am Italian time though and I have been up for almost 19hours. For some reason I couldn't sleep on the plane or on the way back from the airport either, but I don't feel very tired. Might be because of all the nightmares I had last night and I feel a bit scared to go to bed on my own.
Anyway I give you Rihanna and Eminem for now. I LOVE her red hair in this video. I am not too keen on Eminem but Rihanna makes up for it with her gorgeous voice kick-ass attitude and beautiful looks.
The girl in the video is also absolutely stunning and nice to look at.
So that's it from me after a week of silence, but I am going to try and go to bed now.

Late Post

I have been waiting for the post all morning since I knew that Dear John was in there somewhere from Lovefilm.

It didn't arrive until 12.15 so I can't finish watching it before I have to leave for work, but I have started at least and I really like it so far.

I am already in tears like fifteen minutes in;)

For some reason the couple really reminds me of me and The Italian so far.

We'll see how the story goes later.

Two Years Ago....

The Italian and I are celebrating a kind of anniversary today. Two years ago we had our first kiss...

I bought him a little present but it didn't arrive in time so he will have to get it tomorrow instead.

It was a box set of a TV series that we are watching together so it was a shame that it didn't arrive since we are now going to have to wait until after we come back from Italy to have a night in together and watch it. The Italian is working tomorrow night and I am working Tuesday, Wednesday night. I HATE this life we have together at the moment. We NEVER see each other and we keep working completely different shifts...

But never mind, on to something nicer.

When I came home from work today (our first time together this week), he'd cooked a lovely meal for me and I got some beautiful roses.

Some scallops and smoked salmon with a gorgeous sauce.

And then afterwards we had a mountain of frozen berries topped with white choocolate. Yum!

I was absolutely exhausted since I worked until midnight last night and started again at 7am this morning so as a thank you for the lovely meal I fell asleep on the sofa while we watched a film:)

But after a little power nap I was sociable again and we spent the rest of the evening together.

I should probably go to sleep soon though since the alarm is set on 4.45am for another early start tomorrow.

Last night's film

I ran home from work last night and then I thought I'd reward myself with a nice film.

I had just gotten this film from love film so I was super excited.

I've wanted to see it for ages, but for some reason I never went to see it in the cinema.

I was extremely tired last night and maybe that was why, but I have to say that I was disappointed.

I thought it was really slow and nothing really happened in it.

A real shame because I really wanted to like it.

I don't start until 3pm today so I slept til 10am.

I have cleaned up the flat a bit and had some breakfast and now I am bored.

I am thinking of crawling back into here with the latest issue of Vogue that arrived the other day but I haven't had a chance to have a look at it yet.

I love their cover girl - Cheryl Cole and I can't wait to read her story inside.

I didn't make the bed properly this morning so I think it's a sign that that's what I should be doing now.

Wednesday Night

A friend of mine has produced a new play in the West End and we got some tickets to go and see it anytime until next Thursday. I really wanted to go to Fashion Night since I missed it last year, but this was the only night the Italian and I had off together before we go to Italy so it was the only night we could go.

I am so glad we went, the play was really really good. You have to go and see it. It is on at Noel Coward Theatre and it is called Death Trap. It's with Simon Russell Beale and Jonathan Groff from Glee. Great acting and a great play with lots of twists...

Wednesday Afternoon

The three of us went into town together but the Italian's brother had to get on a train back to southmpton pretty soon after so the two of us just walked around and did some shopping for our Italy trip. (well he did some shopping, I was being very good and didnt buy a thing)

And then we hd some lunch in Neals Yard before heading home.

When we got home we watched an old film and had some chocolate before we had to get ready for the evening.

Tuesday Night

The Italian's brother came over to stay on Monday night since he was flying back from Italy and landed late and didn't fancy going all the way back to Southampton in the middle of the night.

He ended up staying last night as well so I took him to Tempo which is where the Italian works.

We had a great meal as always and somehow dishes appeared out of nowhere from the kitchen:) We ordered a few small starters to share and three more starters came up, and then before our main courses this gorgeous plate came up as a middle course;)

We didn't even need to order dessert because three beautiful plates came up anyway.

The prosecco was flowing all night and we had a great time.

I love my man and I am so proud of him for the food he makes in this place.

Anyone who lives in or visiting London should try it.

Movie Night

I managed to get through yesterday at work without falling asleep or feeling too bad.

Came home to an empty house since the Italian had gone out with some  friends. I started watching The Boat That Rocked that had arrived in the post from lovefilm.

It was very funny at times even though it had some slow moments as well so maybe didn't need to be almost two hours long... Anyway the Italian came home early at 7.30pm which made me a very happy lady and I switched off the film and we watched some episodes of How I Met Your Mother which is our new favourite show.

So tonight is the big movie night instead. I am alone at home and I have just finished watching the film from last night and I am now going to start to watch Nowhere Boy.

I can't wait, I have heard so much about it and have very high expectations....

After that I will watch Our Family Wedding which is with America Ferrrera (Ugly Betty) and it is meant to be hilarious. 

It's perfect film weather outside and I might make myself some hot chocolate and light some candles.  

Last Night

After I finished work last night I met up with the Italian and we went to his job and met up with the guys there to celebrate one of the girls he works with.

We went to a bar/club in Berkley Square that I don't know the name of (maybe Babble or something like that)

It was a really fun night actually and quite a few bottles champagne were consumed....

Felt quite hot last night, but now after three hours sleep and I need to get off to work it's not so hot anymore...:)

Now I need to quickly eat some breakfast and get on the tube (!). I am running home from work today instead of running this morning (everything to get a bit more sleep:).

Friday Night

I went out for dinner with Byron and Robert last night and we went to The Italian's place since I hadn't been for a long time.

We had some lovely starters that we all shared.

And I had a gorgeous prawn risotto for main course, Byron had a Tagliatelle with clams and bottarga - it was amazing

And Robert had the famous rabbit tortellini which everybody loves

Afterwards we went on to Groucho Club for a drink before heading off home on my bike.

A lovely night but also a bit sad since it was the last time I'll see Rob before he moves to Morocco next Sunday.

In a way it's good, another holiday destination organised for me and the Italian:)

I forgot

To show you my new hair cut, well it's not actually new, it's the same as last time, but it had really grown so it's a lot shorter than it was yesterday... 

I decided for a Swedish film and a hot chocolate (low fat version - since it's not weekend...;))

I realised that I don't start until 10am tomorrow so I should be able to get up for a run anyway.

My Day

After my lazy morning I cycled to Covent Garden for my colour with Michaela and Cut with Tommy.

It was well needed after the sun and sea in Barcelona.

Afterwards I walked around the corner for a lovely and healthy dinner at my beautiful friend S's house.

And now I just got back home and thinking about having an early night so I can fit in a run before work tomorrow since I am meeting R for dinner tomorrow night.

 But I also have an urge for a movie night so who knows what will happen...

Bar Boulud

I started my strict-budget-life by going out for dinner with my gorgeous friend Niall last night, and we decided to go to Bar Boulud.

As we arrived, our friend Gavin, who is the bar manager there gave us a white cosmopolitan each which is their specialty. They make it with white cranberry juice instead and then they finish it off with a massive ice cube in the middle that has got an orchid inside. It is gorgeous.

At least we went for the cheapo menu - 3 courses for £22.

I had chilled tomato soup and Niall had Rocket and Mozzarella salad to start with.

Main course was Salmon with sea food for me, and 9 herb ravioli for him.

I wasn't going to have dessert because I am trying to be good weekdays and stick to my chocoholism only on weekends, but because we had already gone for the three course deal I had some sorbet. Three flavours - chocolate, raspberry and Passion fruit/coconut and N had a chocolate cake.

All the food was gorgeous and it was a lovely atmosphere by the time we left about 8.30pm

A great night and I can't wait to go back.

Sleeping Beauty

I am not sure what's wrong with me lately. If I don't get interrupted I'll just keep sleeping and sleeping. I could sleep for a 100 years....

Anyway I just woke up because my neighbour came home with some friends and they woke me up.

I could have kept going, but I though eleven hours was enough:)

I was going through my emails and there was my usual email from Daily Candy (a company that sends you daily email about what's going on in London - mainly in the restaurant and fashion world) and they had the weekend guide like they usually do on Thursdays and one of the things was this:

Saving Tips

So to refer to the strict budget that the Italian has put me on I thought I'd write myself a little list of what I need to do to save some money.

Well I thought I'd start with cutting back on......... hmmmm

Ah, Ok well I could always stop spending money on

............

Aaaaargh I don't want to cut back or stop anything.

I love going out for dinner with my friends and I don't want to completely stop doing that.

None of my friends live very close to me so it is easier to meet in town over drinks and food.

I mean, don't get me wrong I love reading books and things.

But with The Italian working almost every night, I don't feel like sitting home every night reading books waiting for him to finish.

That's not why I live in London. In that case I might as well place myself in a cottage in Svalbard where they have a population of under 3000 people.

I love the buzziness and busyness of London and I love spending time with my friends, but unfortunately it isn't for free.

But I will try, try, try to spend a little less money in my every day life.

Only tomorrow there's THE sample sale around the corner from my house, and it also happens to be on the way to my hairdresser so I might just have to pop in and see what they have to offer.
